Μουσείο Άρτου Αμφίκλειας

The Bread Museum of Amfikleia is a monographic museum, where its central theme—bread—is explored in relation to local history, society, tradition, customs, and the particular characteristics shaped by the area’s geographical location, climate, and the development of agricultural technology.

The Bread Museum is housed in the Cultural and Intellectual Center, located in the central square of Amfikleia.

Dimitris Angelis, President of the Local Community of Amfikleia, spoke on the ERT3 program “Perimeter” about the unique Bread Museum in Greece, which has been operating for 22 years and highlights the connection between bread, history, and tradition.

“Our region was an agricultural and commercial center where wheat was the main crop. For this reason, we decided to dedicate this Museum to wheat cultivation and its entire journey—from the field to the final product—presenting the cycle of life in all its forms, its place in local culture, and various bread products. The Research Center of the Academy of Athens curated the museological design of the museum,” Mr. Angelis noted.
