“Everything else is the body’s weft, but bread is the warp”
The Bread Museum of Amfikleia invites visitors on a journey through the history and cultural significance of bread.
From the seed and the field to flour, kneading and the wood-fired oven, the exhibition reveals how a simple daily food becomes memory, tradition and symbol.
The museum tells the story of the human life cycle through bread.
The Museum of Traditional Trades of Amfikleia presents local professions that have faded away over time.
Through authentic tools and objects, the exhibition brings to life trades such as the blacksmith, the saddler, the carpenter and other craftsmen, revealing their techniques, methods and working conditions.
This section is dedicated to Athanasios Eftaxias, a statesman from Amfikleia and Prime Minister of Greece in 1926, and presents objects related to his legacy to his homeland.
The collection includes books, archival material and items from his personal armory.
